An extract from the report written by Richard Swaine
Emsworth awoke to a beautiful summers’ morning with many ‘volunteers’ already at work by 10.00. The two hours of proceedings went like clockwork.
Shortly after 11.30, the museums' Chairman welcomed those attending then our Mayor, Cllr Faith Ponsonby who, already had undertaken a short preview of the displays, made a short speech expressing her delight at being invited to open the event and commenting how amazing it was. This was followed by our own Chairman, Hazel who gave generous acknowledgement to all who had ensured our exhibition would be ‘professional’ and whose displays’ visual impact, was "just stunning". Soon afterwards, the celebrations moved to The Community Centre where a glass of ‘fizz’ was served before our 10th anniversary cake was ceremoniously cut by the member who made it, Jayne and our Mayor. Speeches and tributes were paid to founder members and warm appreciation given to Juliet and Ali.
